I can’t tell you all how excited I am that is is finally November! I absolutely love this time of year. From the beauty of the changing colors of the leaves, to the crispness in the air, to the start of the holiday season, there is just so much to look forward to and enjoy.
As the seasons really start to change outside I love making simple changes inside our home as well. Switching out the scents of candles, adding a new runner to the kitchen table, and placing small bits of fall decor around our main living spaces sets the tone for the holidays ahead. Check out some of these easy updates and let me know what you do to start getting your home ready for the holidays!
I always like to have candles on the kitchen table, whether we have company coming over for a special occasion or we’re just having a quiet dinner for two at home, it just makes any meal feel more special. These metal wheat stalk candle holders were around $10 a piece from Home Goods and the mini pumpkins are real and I picked them up from the grocery store 2 for $1.
Decorating the fireplace mantel is one of my favorite things to do. Its fun to change up your photos and décor at different times of the year to reflect the holidays and the seasons. Come Fall, I love the beautiful colors that are a nice change to our every day décor color palate. It triggers a change is coming with the holidays. I found these fun over sized acorn decorations at Michael’s and used a long leaf garland as well as a handful of floral sprigs in reds, oranges, and yellows to tie it all together.
Flavors change with the holidays too! We all know the famous PSL available only at the wonderful time of year from Starbucks. But for those of us who like to craft our espresso drinks at home, it’s easy to switch up flavors too! I pick up Monin coffee syrups at Home Goods whenever I get the chance for around $6. I prefer them because they use cane sugar and only a couple of other ingredients, nothing artificial. This time of year you can find great seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice, Salted Caramel, and one of my latest favorites, Gingerbread.
Lastly, one of the biggest impacts you can make on your home for the changing season to set the mood is to change up your scents. If you like candles, its the perfect time of year to pick up new scents. This Pumpkin Spice and Maple Syrup scented candle makes our home even more cozy and comfortable.
Enjoy the season and all it has to offer! Let me know what else you do to make your home a welcoming space for family and friends.
